This is Will
Our principal, Will Tomlinson, was born in Los Angeles CA and lived within spitting distance of the warm
Pacific Ocean. Growing up, he was frightened of nuns in his Catholic school, loved surfing, playing
baseball and football.
Instead of heading straight to college, at the recommendation of his geometry
teacher, he took off a year and moved to Hawaii which completely changed his perspective on life.
Returning from Hawaii, Will met his wife as a freshman in college. He graduated Summa Cum Laude
from both Vanguard University (BA in Religion) and SJSU (MA in Experimental Psychology). Ever seen
anyone run around a track to get exercise while studying “Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs” off index
cards? Will claims he never tripped!
Along the way to founding Consumer Perspectives in 1999, Will held positions as a Senior Analyst with
The Nielsen/BASES Group, Vice President and National Director of Analytics with ACNielsen, and as
Director of Consumer Insights with the O.M. Scotts Company. Will has over 30 years of experience in
marketing, sales, and new product development and has helped his clients develop, market, and sell
everything from toothbrushes to state of the art electronic devices.
In addition to being a marketing consultant and researcher, Will enjoys being a husband, father and
grandfather, running (hasn’t missed a day since 1992 – we know, weird!), hiking, and reading.
